Wake Park World Championships 2010 @ Hip-Notics, Antalya

So i got on a plane last sunday together with my dutch buddy Jan Kerkhoven we got on our flight from Dusseldorf to Ankara. After a 3 hour flight we had to transfer in Ankara to go to Antalya.

As soon as we arrived we met Mona and Samuel from Germany who arrived at the same time as us. As we got our pick up to the cable which was an hour we met all the other riders who were there. Me and Jan share a bungalow at the lake with Nicola Butler, good friend of mine from the states, and also a sick rider. She rides mostly boat but she's rocking it at the cable as well!

After a goodnight sleep we woke up as early as we can .. uhum.. not. so yeah had some breakfast, and hit the water. The cable looks sick as always, the obstacles are awesome. It has two kickers, funbox and box on the ouside, flat bar inside and kink rail and ofcourse not to forget the huge B frame! With this set up you can choose which obstacles to hit but still make a sick run.

As we rode all day had some lunch and registered for the comp we were pretty tired at the end of the day. After dinner we played a nice game of poker and had couple of drinks. Had our riders meeting and a good night sleep afterwards.

Then again as we woke up on tuesday a bit of free riding followed by the official opening straight in to the first qualifications of the event; mini boys, girls, boys, amateurs women, amateur obstacles only and the wakeskaters. I also signed up for the womens wakeskate division not that i'm really good but i guess they needed some girls to ride it for the category and i actually like to ride a wakeskate its pretty fun. We had two heats of 3. I became second in my heat by doing some ollie's and 180's and hitting the box and the funbox, also landed the shuv it. Very stoked after that run. :)

After all those qualifications it was already time to have dinner again and play a game of poker! I still didnt win in these two days, hopefully i will though hahaha..

Today was the day of qualifications of the Junior Men, Masters, Pro wakeskate, Pro Women and Pro Obstacles only. Very high level of riding in all those divisions. In Junior Mens, we had our dutch buddy's Michael and Davey both making it in to the semi finals! In Masters category Jan took 4th place, but still going to semi's as well.

As for the womens category, we had 3 heats of 3 riders so 9 in total. First heat was the hardest heat i guess with Nicola (ENG), Denise (NED) and Ange (AUS) which made them go all out. Nicola landed a clean run just B frame a bit sketchy but still made it up with her sick moby dick of the kicker and some nice rail hits. Denise had a bit of a sketchy run as well on her airtricks but still made it well with her blind judge and finishing her run without crashing! Unlucky Angelika fell twice on a blind judge. Top 2 advance to semi's on friday. It was nicola 1st, Denise 2nd, Ange unlucky not making it into the semi's.

2nd heat was Mona (GER), Sophia (GER) and a girl from slovakia. It was obviouse that Sophia and Mona were gonna make it trough to the semi's and they did after their runs. Mona being super stylish on the obstacles and put her on 2nd place and sophia with her airtricks put her on 1st place.

As for my heat, i was together in a heat with Cosima (GER) and Caroline (SWE). First rider was the swedish girl Caro, she did a tanny to blind of the inside kicker and a hs fs 540 of the outside kicker plus had some good rail tricks but missed it out on her airtricks and fell on a roll to revert. Unlucky Cosima started of her run really good by doing some high airtricks, but unlucky fell on her roll 2 blind. I was the last rider of the dock in the pro women category and started of the dock with a whirly then hit the lower part of the funbox with a tailpress to bs 180, backroll, S bend, sw roll 2 revert, then a huge gab on the B fram that suprised me definetaly stoked with that one followed by a blind judge, crowmobe of the outside kicker and ended with a bit sketchy transfer on the funbox. I fisnished on 1st place with that run and Cosima on 2nd place.

For friday riding order semi's pro womens will be 2 heats of 3. It will be me, Denise and Mona in one heat. Nicola, Cosima and Sophia in the other heat. See how that works out.

Now, we have a bit of freeriding and a good dinner afterwards. Also we have some night riding tonight! Maybe some poker again. Tomorrow i dont have to ride so perhaps a little party tonight?

Pro Mens qualifications will start tomorrow, very intense the best riders in the World are

competing here at beautiful hip-notics for the titel of the Wake Park champion of 2010!!

Tomorrow we also will have the most important competition of the week hahaha which is the official poker tournament!!! That will be loads of fun!

Keep you guys posted.

Cheers,

Max

Europeans & World Trophy 2010 Izmit!

I've been home since tuesday night. But i definately had a sick week in Izmit at the IWWF European Championships and World Trophy 2010!!

Finals were intense such as Euro's and World Trophy. I had to start 4th in finals at Europeans and after my first run i was standing on first place. I had to start last as soon as Kirsteen Mitchell started of for her second run, i landed in to 2nd place. So with my second run it was all or nothing. Show the people what i got. Unlucky i fell on a S to blind and had to be happy with a second place! Denise took 3rd place. As for our team of The netherlands, we took 3rd place with our country. Which was pretty cool! And we were very happy with our results.

So, the World Trophy was even more intense than the Europeans. As it was all about the Cash money everyone went all out in their runs, showed the sickest tricks!! In Pro mens finals it was really really close. As for Mike who took the European titel. Had to be happy with a second run. Sick Nick davies who didn't come on the podium at europeans took the first place at the world trophy that gave him $10.000 plus ofcourse the overall with another 5 grand. He even landed a raley fs 720 after the comp. Shows that he is an amazing rider!

As for us ladies, the level of riding is getting more difficult every year. Sophia Mari Reimers descided to ride with Open Ladies instead of the Juniors. I mean ofcourse, cause in Open Ladies first place was $ 5.000 which is a lot prize money for womens. Anyway, we were 11 riders in total. with 6 in the finals on sunday. After my first run i did not end very high, because i lost the handle on the inside box, which was soo stupid. And everyone else did a clean and safe run. Except for Sophia who crashed in her first run and started first of the dock in the second run which put her immediately in first with her front 2 blind, sw mobe and a blind judge. And after all those 2nd runs i was in 6th position as i started of the dock with my run, did a blind judge, roll 2 blind, s to blind, sw roll2r, sw krypt and sick obstacles plus a whirly. I thought it was enough for first place, i was soo stoked after my run. It was definately one of my best runs.

After that run we waited for our score to come trough. It was still not enough to beat Sophia.

Even though i really thought it was.. i was really dissapointed. It was good afterall i won the overall ranking and i took some cash home! Happy afterall, and definatley will be competing next year!

Tomorrow i will leave to Antalya for the Wake Park Worldchampionships 2010. This will be the sickest event, that we have all been waiting for!! Will keep you guys posted.

Europeans Championships & World Trophy 2010 Izmit, Turkey!!!

After last weekends great Nationals i left from my hometown to Schiphol Airport last tuesday. When i arrived the whole dutch team was there and we were ready to get on our flight to Istanbul and from there by bus to Izmit to compete at the European Championships 2010 and ofcourse the World Trophy! This year we have a really good team and a new teammember Sam de Haan got second at our nationals in the boys division. So we have Sanne in the girls division. Sam in the boys division. Joelle in the Junior ladies division.Nick, Michael, Yves and Rocco in the Junior Men division. Our coach Rens Cosijn participating in Masters category. Me and Denise in the Open Ladies category. And ofcourse Dirk, Martijn And Mike Ketellapper in the Pro Men division. All of us together there might be even a change to win the golden medail for our country!! Would be pretty sick.

So after a little bit of delay on our flight we arrived in the evening on tuesday in Istanbul.
We got our bags and got on a bus towards Izmit. Once we were there checked in at the hotel got changed and had our first Turkish dinner in the Hotel.

Next morning on wednesday we got up pretty early to have breakfast and went to the cable to have our team training. All of us rode really good, tried some good runs and we obviously had some flat water which was perfect. Rest of the day the water was kind of choppy because it was free practise for everyone. All with all we had a wonderful day of riding and getting to know Izmit a little bit better.

Yesterday as we woke up it was gonna be the day of the official training, the official opening ceremonie and of course our first qualifications! As we had our good training and and opening representing HOLLAND!!! it was time for our first qualifications. Me and Denise both rode pretty good, Denise a bit better then me. I was on 1st place after my first run, but for long because when Denise and Kirsteen did their run i was placed on 3rd place. My second run i fell with my sw mobe. Unlucky, i know i can do it and it worked all day. Anyway, Denise was still on first after her 2nd run but we were all trough to the finals of tomorrow anyway, all 7 open ladies of us.

Today was the day of some finals; Girls, Boys and Masters. So we already have one gold medail cause Rens won the Masters division and a thirth place from Sanne in the Girls division. and unlucky Sam became 4th. Also we had qualifications wakeskate divisions and ofcourse the junior men and the pro men! Rocco was placed 1st in his heat. Nick unlucky became 3rd and has to ride his LCQ tomorrow same as for Yves and Michael. As for Mike he was qualified 2nd in his heat. All of the heats in the Pro Men catergory were super difficult. Its normal to have a 315 in your run and mobe 5's. The level of riding is incredible.. The other pro men of our team didnt make it trough to the finals so Dirk and Martijn have to ride the Lcq's tomorrow!

I'm very excited for tomorrow. This has been a great event so far. Perfect weather, good obstacles. Sick riding. The cable is 12 meters high! So you can emagine how high all the riders can fly ;)

Hopefully the weather will be amazing tomorrow! Before i forget to write it down here in my blog, please check http://www.cablewakeboard.net/ for all the information about the event this weekend including results, timetable etc.

They will also start with the livestreaming from tomorrow at noon so 12 oclock live streaming!
Hope you will all follow us online! Finals of Europeans tomorrow! Stay tuned, they will also start of with some qualifications of the World Trophy in the afternoon tomorrow!

Keep you guys posted.
Cheers

Dutch Nationals 2010

Last weekend we had our Nationals of 2010!!! Located at Down Under Cableway.

It was a great succes, there were about 92 riders registered. Some good brands that were sponsoring the event including Jobe sports one of my sponsors that gave away great prizes for the riders who made it to the podium.
We had all divisions from mini girls, till Masters. Good to see that even the smallest kids shred it on the water and it doesnt matter how old you get you still can rock the water hard, thats what we saw in the masters division.

We even had Wakeskate categories. Which i competed too. I think we had our Pro womens of 7 riders and all of us also competed in Wakeskate. Hilarious to see us all doing things on a wakeskate. After a great party on saturday night we had finals on sunday!

Delay of blog

Hi all,

Yeah so i haven't had a laptop for a while because mine broke. Since a day i have a new laptop and so i can keep u all posted with my blogs.

There were some cool things going on in the last 3 weeks. Ofcourse i have to talk about the 2nd stop of the WWA the Protest Cable Call which was held in Nieuwegein, The Netherlands on the 14th and 15th of August.
It was a great event, very well organised!
Lots of good riders from all over the world came to join us here in Holland! The level of riding was insane! There was a lot of prize money for this event so only the best of the best took the money home! So it was the unbelievable Tom Fooshee who took 1st place in Pro Mens division and won $7000, with a pete rose 540 off the kicker he showed he was best in his final! Followed by Nick Davies on 2nd place and Felix Georgii on 3rd.

Then out of 16 Pro womens competing there were only 4 in the final. After my 100 point in quali's and semi's that saturday before i kinda messed it up by doing a pretty safe run in finals and got my ass kicked by Sophia Reimers who definately deserved to be on 1st spot with her blind judge and a switch mobe! So after finals it was Sophia first, me on 2nd and Denise on 3rd.

After the Cable Call i had a two days photo and video shoot with all the Jobe Teamriders. CK, Chloe, Declan, Michael, Sjors, Richy and Will. The weather was shitty but i'm sure we took some good shots for the new catalogue of 2011. The next years collection will be sick and very colourfull. some great products. Not to forget about the new design of the J star Max board and the Max vest!! Some of you might have seen it at the Cable Call.

Next event was the T mobile Playgrounds which was not for womens so i can't really tell you guys anything about that event. But what i can tell you is that there was a small competition at the same weekend here in holland at burnside cable park in Emst!
Its called de Bok; which is basically a competition just for fun. Its really just a day to be crazy and ride because we all have the same love for wakeboarding. The theme of the day was heaven and hell so we all had to dress up. I dont really like to dress up but there were plenty of people who did like that.
Anyway, so i came along that day together with my buddy Tom van de Kerkhof and we came a little late. Actually the competition already started but we asked 'can we still compete?' Yeah sure why not. So there we went. Uhu both in finals and i had the biggest score after two runs and had to start at last in finals. I landed a huge S to blind followed by a switch mobius and a clean whirly 540 of the kicker!!! That was basically the best run so far i had in a comp. Even tho this was not an official competion i was still stoked to land this. After finals i hurt my shoulder again. I have this small injury its irritating me since cable call but i manage to ride with it, and lucky i have a fysiotherapist now so its gonna be fine. At the end of the day i finished first in womens category! And Dirk Gideonse another buddy of mine won the Mens division! A great day and loads of fun people to hang out with! Definately going next year, again!

The next competition will be this weekend. Which will be the Official Dutch National Championships! Its gonna be the biggest organised nationals we ever had in Cable Wakeboarding. It will be held in Nieuwegein at Down Under, same cable park were the Cable call was. There are already 96 riders registered so i guess its gonna be a great succes this weekend.
Hopefully we will see some new tricks of our dutch riders. Will let you know more about it after this weekend!

Some more competitions coming up in the next few weeks: dutch nationals, official European championships in Izmit, Turkey. World Trophy also held in Izmit. Ofcourse the Wake Park Worldchampionships in Antalya, Turkey at beautiful Hip-notics. And last WWA Stop at CWC, Philippines. So keep you guys posted! :)

Update soon!
Thanks
